Job Posts are the first thing Freelancers see. Done right, they can be the difference between landing an excellent Freelancer  and having to keep looking until you find one who qualifies for the job you’re offering. This article will help you figure out how to write a really great job post that will make the best freelancers want to work for you.

First and foremost, the job post needs to be clear and well-written. But this is not enough! In this article we’ll cover the most important points to have a job posting that really stands out 🙂

1) Introduce yourself and your business

Don’t just tell Freelancers what the job is. Tell them who you are and what your company does, too. You never know – someone might not care about the job, but they’ll care about your company and want to work for it.

Also, some top Freelancers may want to work with you, because they believe in your company, and they think you’ll be able to give them more work down the road. You’ll be surprised to find sometimes top Freelancers will take a loss making job, just to be part of something big in the future.

2. Write in simple, easy-to-understand language. But keep it detailed!

It’s important to be able to clearly explain what you’re looking for in an easy to understand way.   You want to make sure that you’re targeting the right Freelancer and not just anyone who is looking to take any job. Be aware that after Covid-19, there are many freelancers out there, some of them will just take any job, without really understanding what they need to do. There’s a new world out there, and many workers want to be part of it. Make it easy for them to understand so only the capable Freelancers apply. Be as clear and as detailed as possible. With this, you are saving yourself from wasted time and effort.

3. Include reasonable project deadline and start date

Many clients have no clue on how much time a job should take. If you’re one of those (that’s okay, most of the clients are like that!), make sure to do your research before setting unreasonable deadlines. By listing the right timescale, you are making it easier for Freelancers to decide to apply. Remember, some Freelancers will just take any job, while actually the more experienced ones, will tend to take only jobs they know they can deliver. If they believe the deadline is not feasible, they won’t apply. If you have set a reasonable deadline and start date, you already have an edge over other clients.

4. Get specific with the skills needed

The best way to make your job posting  attract the right Freelancers is by being specific about the skills needed. For example, if you need  a web developer expert in some languages, mention all of the different programming languages that are needed. If you need a graphic designer, mention which programs you want them to use in your work and link samples of graphics you liked. Be clear and precise.

5. Mention expected compensation

At the end of the day, freelancers apply for jobs because they want to make money. Mention expected compensation.Freelancers love when clients are open and clear about their budget, so they know if it’s worth sending in a proposal.

If you’re unsure of what is the right price for the job, try doing some research. Another way, would be not to mention the budget, and start chats with freelancers, you’ll learn quite fast what’s the right budget.

A clear and well-written job description will help you attract the best freelancer. When you post it, be sure that you applied these tips and your job posting will surely get noticed by the best freelancers!!
